The awards will be competitive in the sense that not every applicant is guaranteed to&nbsp; receive a Travel Award.<br><br>Awardees are expected to register for the main conference and will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.<br><\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Eligibility<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g6c48df\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1 section-g6c48df gutentor-element gutentor-element-advanced-text\"><div class=\"gutentor-text-wrap\"><p class=\"gutentor-text\">Applicants need to be a full-time student (undergraduate or graduate) at a US-based academic institution. Applicants also need to be a SIGIR, SIGKDD, SIGMOD, or SIGWEB member at the time of applying to this award (to become a member of ACM SIGs, you don\u2019t need to be a member of the ACM \u2014 as an example, students can <a href=\"https:\/\/sigmod.org\/membership\/\">join SIGMOD<\/a> for $10).<br><br>Applicants do not need to have an accepted paper to be eligible. The selection will be made based on the following criteria:<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students selected to present at the doctoral consortium will be given priority.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students from under-represented groups will be given priority.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PhD students actively pursuing research and close to degree completion with papers accepted in the main conference, demonstrations, tutorials, or workshops will be given priority.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally, junior PhD students and MS students with papers accepted in the main conference or workshops will be given priority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Application Procedure<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-gf8a924\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1 section-gf8a924 gutentor-element gutentor-element-advanced-text\"><div class=\"gutentor-text-wrap\"><p class=\"gutentor-text\">Please submit the following materials (in a single PDF file) with your application:<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Student\u2019s full name and email address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name and address of student\u2019s school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advisor\u2019s full name and email address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SIG membership data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A one-page abstract from the student, summarizing a broad view of his\/her research with motivation, problem description, approach, and progress; the abstract must be written in English and needs to comply with the two-column ACM proceedings format.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 1-2 page CV of the student.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) demographic data for reporting purposes: Gender, Ethnic background<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g5fb858\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e1
