The 9th ACM International Conference on Web Search and Data Mining

San Francisco, California, USA. February 22-25, 2016.

WSDM Local Student Volunteer & Growth Program

To encourage participation from PhD students that otherwise would not be able to attend WSDM 2016, we are announcing a late-breaking student volunteer program. Participants will receive full registration at the conference daytime events (i.e. evening social event tickets are not included) and will be expected to provide volunteer service at the conference for up to a full day. The emphasis is on participation from PhD students local to the venue area and those who have been publishing in conferences by WSDM’s sponsoring SIGs but who do not attend WSDM regularly. That is, students who do not need travel support and where the major impediment is registration cost. Students that are not local but already have guaranteed travel support to cover costs beside registration will still be considered.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be able to be present Monday, February 22nd from 8:00-8:30 a.m. at the conference venue for a mandatory volunteer meeting.
  • Applicant must be a full time PhD student in a field of study related to the CFP for WSDM 2016.
  • Applicant must be available for up to a day of service at WSDM 2016 or two half days during the dates of February 22-25, 2016. Service includes such tasks as staffing the registration desk, directing attendees, and other tasks supporting the organizational committee.
