We are thrilled to have you join us for an exciting series of events designed to inspire, connect, and empower People from Underrepresented Groups and Allies in STEM!
The objectives of the Diversity and Inclusion Open Space are:
- To create a platform for underrepresented groups in STEM to share their experiences
- Raise awareness about the challenges faced by underrepresented groups in STEM
- Work together to overcome common challenges and obstacles
- Inspire allies to take action and support underrepresented groups in STEM
- Networking opportunities for attendees to connect with each other and build relationships
Target Audience:
- People from underrepresented groups (e.g. women, minorities, LGBTQ+) working in or interested in pursuing careers in STEM fields
- Allies who want to learn more about the experiences of these communities and how they can be supportive.
These events are meant to both bring awareness and to tackle some of the challenges and obstacles minorities and underrepresented folks might be facing at work.
The format will include D&I workshops with presentations, plenary discussions, group work and discussions over breaks.
Workshop topics:
- Privilege and Ethics in Data: Privilege Awareness and learning about Ethics when dealing with data in practice.
- Non-violent communication: learning about giving and receiving constructive feedback.
- Inclusive meetings culture: understanding the effects of power imbalances in meetings and how to facilitate inclusive and cooperative meetings.
